Indiana Pipps, aka Arizona Goof, key to Goof Troops win over Black Magic
Arizona Goof, known as Indiana Pipps around the world, ran for 229 yards to lead a punishing ground game, and the Goof Troops celebrated their first postseason win in franchise history.
In a matchup of two Disney football teams that lost in the first round last year, the Troops offensive rushing attack was unstoppable.
It was Disney Goofy's second time in the postseason, but last year they were destroyed by Oswald and the Mouseketeers.
In a season filled with several highlights, from the release of Mona and Roxanne, Goof becoming the Troops All-Time Leading Scorer, and Arizona breaking the single season rushing record. But none sweeter than the opportunity to continue playing in December.
The Goof Troops (9-4) entered the postseason as the number two seed and some would say they have the easier road to the Walt Disney Bowl with the high-profiled Mouseketeers and Quack Pack playing each other next week.
The Black Magic (6-7) got within three points in the third quarter, but the unusually unlucky Gladstone Gander had five penalties, including two delay of game and one intentional grounding, in the second half that helped the Goof Troops pull away.
Gladstone threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns but was intercepted twice, and Magica de Spell ran 18 times for 93 yards along with another 84 yards on five catches.
