Catamounts lose heart breaker to Bow-Dazzlers
The Catamounts scored the first two touchdowns and held leads of 13-0 and 20-7 in the first half.
A 1-yard touchdown run by Minnie Mouse gave the Bow-Tique Bow-Dazzlers its first lead at 21-20 in the third quarter. Ortensia’s 6-yard scoring run added to the lead early in the fourth quarter.
The Bow-Tique Bow-Dazzlers, who managed over 200 yards rushing in their previous game, had 324 total yards rushing, including 199 yards on 26 attempts by Ortensia.
The entire Catamount family was involved. Pete threw touchdown passes of 19 yards to wide receiver Peg Pete and 24 yards to tight end Peter “P.J.” Pete, Junior after a 4-yard scoring run by Pistol Pete.
The Catamounts didn’t score again after Pete Junior’s touchdown catch with 9:18 remaining in the first half.
Pete completed 14 of 29 passes for 218 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Pistol had 11 carries for 54 yards and one touchdown.
Steady rain throughout the game may have contributed to a key lost fumble by Minnie late in the first quarter. Fat Cat recovered for the Catamounts at the Bow-Tique Bow-Dazzlers’ 46.
Pete led a quick six-play touchdown drive capped by Peg’s 19-yard scoring catch. Peg pulled the ball in with one hand before falling back in the end zone, giving the Catamounts a 13-0 lead.
The Catamounts had trouble holding the ball even as it scored its first touchdown. Ortensia, hit by Fat Cat, was losing the ball as she crossed the goal line from the 1 early in the second quarter. A video review confirmed the on-field ruling that Ortensia crossed the goal line before losing the ball.
The Bow-Tique Bow-Dazzlers lost only one of four fumbles, while the Catamounts did not have any.
