Disney Cruise Line hosts spectacular entertainment on its ships, continuing to surprise and delight guests of all ages with a seemingly endless array of offerings.The Walt Disney Company recently announced that it has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany to build two additional cruise ships. Each new ship will be approximately 135,000 gross tons – slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy – and each is currently planned to include about 1,250 guest staterooms. While design plans, ship names and itineraries are still in development, the Walt Disney Imagineering team is already dreaming up exciting new ways to create the world’s most magical oceangoing adventures. The schedule calls for the new ships to be completed in 2021 and 2023.In early 2016, Disney Cruise Line celebrated the legendary stories and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga with the debut of Star Wars Day at Sea exclusively on-board the Disney Fantasy. New in 2017, Disney Cruise Line will nearly double the number of Star Wars Day at Sea voyages, offering 15 special sailings. Disney Cruise Line is committed to minimizing its impact on the environment by utilizing new technologies and ongoing programs to increase fuel efficiency, reduce waste and promote conservation worldwide.Environmental Officers: All Disney Cruise Line ships have dedicated Environmental Officers who are responsible for overseeing compliance with multiple regulations and onboard environmental programs, including all shipboard recycling and sanitation efforts, as well as monitoring the ship’s overall water quality and supply.Recycle/Reuse: Shipboard recycling processes annually eliminate more than 600 tons of metals, plastic, glass and paper from traditional waste streams. In addition, responsible construction methods have been utilized on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy to source flooring and carpeting that is made from sustainable, organic and recyclable alternatives.Fuel Efficiency: Disney Cruise Line was the first in the industry to utilize an innovative hull coating on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder that is 100 percent non-toxic and increases fuel efficiency by reducing surface resistance in open water. The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have been designed to be even more hydrodynamic vessels than their predecessors, with optimized propulsion systems and hulls for increased efficiency.Energy Conservation: Condensation from the shipboard air conditioning units is reclaimed and reused to wash the decks, saving up to 30 million gallons of fresh water each year.

In 2016, Disney Cruise Line introduces guests to the majesty and culture of the British Isles -- with its first-ever itinerary with ports of call in Scotland, England, Ireland and France. Throughout the summer of 2016, Disney Cruise Line also will return to Norway, Iceland and ports of call in more than 15 European countries. In the fall of 2016, Disney Cruise Line returns to New York for a limited time with sailings to the Bahamas that include a visit to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. New seven-night Caribbean cruises from Miami and a return to Galveston, Texas will round out the season.Guests can also sail on popular cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas, where Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, is located.

Castaway Cay

A favored stop on all Bahamian and Caribbean itineraries is Disney’s Castaway Cay, a 1,000-acre private island with turquoise waters, powdery white sand beaches and swaying palm trees that is exclusive to Disney Cruise Line guests. With an authentic island barbecue and plenty of snorkeling and water sports, Castaway Cay provides Disney Cruise Line guests with a day of adventure, relaxation and quality time with the family.

Island amenities include:
