Max Hare Runs Wild
Max Hare rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Catamounts to a 31-22 victory over the Goof Troops.
The Cats out rushed the Goof Troops 194 to 148 in a back and forth game.
In his first start at running back, Max Hare dominated the Goof Troops’ rushing defense and every time he touched the ball amazing things happened for the Catamounts.
Pistol Pete was an effective 17-for-25 for 197 yards for the Cats.
Goof Troops’ Max Goof finished 24-of-41 for 237 yards and one touchdown pass, while Goofy Goof and his grandpa, Captain Goof-Beard, led all receivers with 82 yards a piece.
The Catamounts scored on its opening possession of the game, driving 80 yards before Max Hare plunged in from four yards out.
After a 30-yard field goal by Robert “Bobby” Zimmeruski tightened the score, Max Hare scored again on a 62-yard run.
The Goof Troops responded in the second quarter, getting another field goal by Bobby before Max Goof connected with Captain Goof-Beard for a 14-yard touchdown pass.
After the half, the Goof Troops drove 67 yards in 14 plays and took the lead on Bobby’s 23-yard field goal.
The Catamounts responded with a 12-play drive of their own, retaking the lead on a 5-yard run by Pete.
After Peg Pete’s field goal late in the third quarter put the Cats up 24-16, Max Hare scored again from 1 yard.
Arizona Goof, usually an offensive leader for the Goof Troops, was quiet until scoring with just three minutes left in the game, but failed the 2-point conversion attempt.
