Oswald the Lucky Rabbit ran for 119 yards and four touchdowns and defensive lineman Seamus O’Hara scored his first touchdown of the season as the Mouseketeers beat the Diamond Ducks 35-13 in Winter Haven, Florida.

Oswald scored twice in the second quarter, and Seamus’ 40-yard fumble return in the third quarter broke open what had been a surprisingly close game. Chief O’Hara, who was welcomed to the league from his amazing security work in Mickey Mouse’s comic-book mysteries before trying out for the Mouseketeers, picked up a bad snap by self-proclaimed girlfriend of Scrooge McDuck, Brigitta MacBridge, and scored before the Diamond Ducks knew what happened.

The Lucky Rabbit’s touchdown runs covered 2, 3, 1 and 30 yards for the Mouseketeers (5-2), which in a three-way tie for regular season champions. Mickey Mouse passed for 196 yards with two interceptions in his worse offensive game of the year. The Mouseketeers held Diamond Ducks to 321 total yards.

The Diamond Ducks (2-5) have been terrible this season, and now sit in 11th place.

The Mouseketeers lacked the early spark it had its previous game in a dominant win over Dark Dynasty. Mickey threw his third interception in two games on Mouseketeers’ first drive, and his team was held scoreless in the first quarter.

LEGOLAND ® Florida Resort

Both teams seemed rather mystified with the imaginative and creative world of LEGOLAND ® Florida Resort. It has served as a family hot sport with kid-friendly rides, interactive attractions abound, seasonal magic, and the new LEGOLAND ® Water Park addition (with water park combo ticket only), so it’s no surprise that their minds seemed elsewhere for the majority of the game. The team trip from Walt Disney World to Winter Haven took about an hour via U.S. Route 27 South, and all players talked about was the LEGOLAND ® Florida Special Offer that saves you money on theme park tickets.

But not all the Ducks mistakes could be blamed on the ten fun filled themed areas, nor the 50 million LEGO blocks located at the LEGOLAND ® Florida Resort. The Diamond Ducks had three drives inside the Mouseketeer 15 that accounted for just six points, and the fumble that set up Mouseketeers’ touchdown return came just when the Ducks had a chance to seize momentum in the third quarter.

After snagging the early interception, the Ducks missed a chance for a surprise lead in the first when Gloria missed a 31-yard field goal. A penalty for running into the punter also let the mighty Mouseketeers keep the ball in what would end up as a 92-yard scoring drive when Oswald scored his first touchdown 12 plays later.

Oswald’s second touchdown put the Mouseketeers ahead 14-0 before a long pass from Daisy Duck to Dickie Duck set up Gloria’s 21-yard field on the last play of the first half.

The Diamond Ducks started the third quarter with a drive that stalled at the Mouseketeers 10. Gloria cut the Mouseketeers lead to 14-6 with a 27-yard field goal that bounced in off the right upright.

Oswald closed the third with his third touchdown of the day for a 28-6 lead. His fourth came a few minutes later when Mickey stumbled and barely made the handoff before his knee hit the ground.

After enjoying one of the greatest post-game parties in the history of the Walt Disney Enterprise, both teams left the largest LEGOLAND ® in the world driving a different route back to Walt Disney World Resort, still an hour long via U.S. Route 27 N and US-17 N/US-92 E.

One of them, leaving on a two-game winning streak.
